Mac's Convenience Stores Inc. presents SHIVER ME FROSTERS® PIRATE BATTLE GAME

How to Play

Thanks for going to your Mac’s Convenience Store and making a purchase of $5.00 or more. Every $5.00 purchase entitles you one game play SHIVER ME FROSTERS® Game Card. In the white box on the game card is a 12 digit code. This code allows you to go online and play the SHIVER ME FROSTERS® PIRATE GAME. To play, first register as a user at www.mymacs.ca. Once you are registered, click on the SHIVER ME FROSTERS® PIRATE GAME web ad to go the game site.

In SHIVER ME FROSTERS® PIRATE GAME you will find and sink enemy pirate ships. Fight other pirates, hunt for treasure, and collect coins and hidden treasure.

“Welcome Aboard” Screen

Loading the game can take a little while so be patient. The start up screen is where you redeem your code. As well, on this screen is where you will find game statistics such as Top Scores, Team Status, your Activity Log and some game tips. When you move your cursor near the sides, top and bottom of the screen arrows will appear to assist in moving around the screen.

To Begin Play

Click with your cursor on the rectangular area below the REDEEM TO PLAY box and type in your 12 digit code and click on the VERIFY CODE BUTTON. If you have any cannon balls left over from a previous session you can enter game by clicking on the CONTINUE TO PLAY button. You will now see a “Loading game assets screen” again be patient if it takes a little time to load. Once the game is loaded you will be automatically placed on a team with other players. Each team has a maximum of 20 players.

Choose Your Game Pieces

First choose your treasure chest by clicking on the arrow keys and clicking on your choice. Next, place it anywhere on the map by moving it with your mouse and clicking your mouse button when you have decided on a suitable position. Note: The map is larger than it appears in the window so by moving your curser with your mouse you will be able to move around the map uncovering other areas to explore and place your pieces. Note: When you place your treasure chest and if you change your mind and wish to reposition you can as long as you don’t click the OK button.

Treasure Chests can be placed on land and in the water. Once you’ve placed it where you want, click the OK button that appears and choose your Pirate and Pirate Ship by following the same instructions.

Note: Pirates must be placed on land and the Pirate Ships must be placed on water. No piece can be placed on an already occupied square or a square that has been hit and uncovered already by an enemy. Those squares are indicated in black.

Engaging the Enemy

Once all game pieces are placed you are ready to go hunting. Click on the OK button and you will reveal the game console. You can move the console around by clicking on the centre. Note: By moving your cursor close to edge of the map in any direction you will cause the map to move and reveal more areas to explore. To engage the enemy click on the cannon icon and you will be taken to the enemy map. To shoot a cannon ball and reveal a square, place the crosshairs over any unrevealed square and click with your mouse. The cannon ball will shoot and the square will be revealed with a bang!

A hit or miss message will pop up to let you know what happened. If a portion of pirate or ship is revealed, calculate where to shoot next to reveal more of the enemy piece.

Note: It takes 7 cannon balls to kill a pirate ship, 3 to kill a pirate and 1 to capture a treasure chest.
On the map there are bonus treasure prizes. These are located by an X at the end of a dotted line, so if you miss an enemy piece but hit a dotted line you may want to try and reveal more of it to work your way to the treasure at the end.

End of Play

You will be automatically taken back to the Start Up screen once you have used all your cannon balls. Note: If for any reason you wish to leave the game before you use up all of your cannon balls, click on “View Team Map” which takes you back to your map and then click on the “more Shots” icon on the game console and you will be taken to the Start up screen. You can depart from there.

To continue to play you must redeem another code. If you get another game card from different store on the day you received your first one, you will get 2 bonus cannon balls. Hurry back before someone else on your team finishes off that game piece you revealed a part of.
